South cotabato: The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) announced that Meta has promptly removed videos depicting the school shooting incident in South Cotabato, which resulted in the deaths of three students, including the gunman, and injuries to six others.

According to Philippines News Agency, CICC Executive Director Renato 'Aboy' Paraiso stated that due to the CICC's ongoing collaboration with Meta, the videos of the incident circulating on social media platforms were swiftly taken down. Additionally, the accounts responsible for sharing the material were blocked. The Threat Monitoring Center (TMC) of the CICC, under the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), remains vigilant in monitoring the online space to identify and address any new content related to the incident.

Both the DICT and CICC have urged the public to refrain from sharing videos of the shooting incident, which occurred in a classroom at Banga National High School in Barangay Benitez around 1:15 p.m. Paraiso emphasized that circulating such content could lead to increased fear, confusion, and potentially inspire copycat violence.

The CICC expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. Paraiso also encouraged parents and guardians to monitor their children's online activities, especially their use of gaming apps, messaging features, participation in online communities, and private chats. He stated that the CICC will continue to work with social media, gaming, and messaging platforms, along with other concerned agencies and stakeholders, to prevent cyber-enabled threats and other forms of online harm.
