Manila: The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) announced plans to initiate a comprehensive review of its operations in collaboration with the World Bank, aiming to ensure quality assurance across its functions. This initiative underscores CHED's commitment to aligning staff competencies with their roles to enhance public service efficiency and effectiveness.
According to Philippines News Agency, CHED Chairperson Shirley Agrupis highlighted the importance of this review to improve quality assurance. The partnership with the World Bank will involve analyzing current staffing qualifications and mapping critical workflows. This effort is designed to address potential overlaps between CHED and other agencies and to meet the regulatory demands of over 5.4 million students enrolled in more than 2,000 institutions.
The comprehensive review was a focal point of discussions during a meeting held on January 30, which included CHED commissioners, directors, and representatives from the World Bank team. The collaboration aims to streamline operations and ensure that the agency effectively meets its quality assurance objectives.
