CFO Encourages Overseas Filipino Elders to Avail Milestone Age Incentives

Manila: The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is urging overseas Filipino octogenarians, nonagenarians, and centenarians to avail themselves of cash benefits under the newly enacted Expanded Centenarians Act, also known as Republic Act 11982. This initiative is part of an effort to acknowledge the contributions of elderly Filipinos to both their communities abroad and the national development of the Philippines.

According to Philippines News Agency, CFO Chairperson Secretary Dante Ang II emphasized the significant role that overseas Filipino elders play, not just in supporting their families through remittances, but also in preserving Filipino culture and heritage through various community events. Ang highlighted their contributions to fostering a strong sense of national identity, stating that these efforts have a profound impact on both their families and the broader Philippine society.

The Expanded Centenarians Act, which amends the Centenarians Act of 2016, entitles Filipinos who reach the ages of 80, 85, 90, and 95 to a PHP10,000 cash gift. Those who reach the age of 100 will receive a PHP100,000 cash gift and a letter of felicitation from the Philippine President. This initiative is designed to honor the longevity and contributions of elderly Filipinos to the country’s development.

Ang noted that the CFO, operating under the Office of the President, is instrumental in implementing this law for overseas Filipinos. The agency supports a wide array of overseas Filipinos, including permanent migrants, dual citizens, spouses and partners of foreign nationals, and participants in various exchange programs.

He urged eligible overseas Filipino “lolas” and “lolos” and their families to contact the CFO or the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate for guidance on claiming these benefits. To apply, individuals must submit an application form with a recent photo, a valid Philippine passport or dual citizenship documents, Philippine peso-denominated bank account details, and a full-body photograph.

For further information, interested parties can contact the CFO at (+632) 8552-4724 locals 734 to 735, or email [email protected] / [email protected]. The CFO is located at the 21st floor of The Upper Class Tower, Quezon Ave. corner Scout Reyes St., Barangay Paligsahan, Quezon City.

Ang reiterated the CFO’s commitment to serving Filipino permanent migrants, ensuring that those living abroad continue to feel connected to their homeland.
