Cebu Hosting of ASEAN Puts Spotlight on PH Hospitality, ‘Bayanihan’

Cebu: The Philippines' hosting of the 48th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) succeeded in putting Cebu and the country in the regional spotlight, the ASEAN National Organizing Council (NOC) said on Saturday. The ASEAN NOC emphasized the event's success in showcasing Filipino hospitality and cooperation, known as 'bayanihan', during the bi-annual gathering held across various parts of Cebu province.

According to Philippines News Agency, the ASEAN NOC highlighted this event as a powerful demonstration of the whole-of-nation cooperation. Hellen De La Vega, ASEAN NOC Director General for Operations, expressed gratitude to all involved, stating that the dedication and support from agencies, partners, workers, volunteers, and the people of Cebu were crucial in presenting the Filipino spirit to ASEAN and the world.

The ASEAN NOC noted that the summit's success proved Cebu's capability to host significant engagements, reflecting its readiness to welcome not just Southeast Asia but the global community. Special thanks were extended to the residents of Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and Cordova for their patience and support during the summit, which allowed ASEAN and international participants to experience Filipino generosity.

The ASEAN NOC also acknowledged contributions from Megaworld Corporation, The Mactan Newtown, and various hotel establishments, venue partners, accommodation providers, tourism stakeholders, and mobility partners who played roles in the summit's preparation. The statement emphasized the Philippines' continued commitment to its ASEAN Chairmanship journey through 2026, driven by a spirit of solidarity and cooperation.
