PUTRAJAYA, The Inter-Faith Harmony Committee (HARMONI) meeting here today approved the proposed Malaysia Harmony Charter as a medium for unity and harmony among Malaysians. The charter encompasses six principles, 12 harmony values, 32 guidelines and nine directions, and will contain a guideline covering permissible and avoidable matters in strengthening relations among the country’s multi-ethnic, religious and cultural society. The Ministry of National Unity and the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) in a joint statement today informed that HARMONI also agreed to establish the Programmes and Activities Management Bureau, the Education and Promotions Bureau and the Religious Issues and Mediation Bureau.

KUALA LUMPUR, The crude palm oil (CPO) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended higher on Thursday due to increased soybean oil prices, said palm oil trader David Ng. However, Ng noted that gains were limited by concerns over rising output in the coming weeks. ‘We see support at RM3,600 and resistance at RM3,880 a tonne,’ he told Bernama. Meanwhile, Mumbai-based Sunvin Group commodity research head Anilkumar Bagani said the market ended higher today following a strong recovery in the soy oil and rapeseed oil markets overnight on Wednesday. KUALA LUMPUR, The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended lower today, mirroring the underlying cash market’s performance. The spot-month August 2024 contract fell 10.5 points to 1,582.5. September 2024 contract shed 26.5 points to 1,565.5, December 2024 slid 7.5 points to 1,570.5, while March 2025 slipped 10.5 points to 1,559.5. Turnover dropped to 9,354 lots from 15,459 on Wednesday, while open interest decreased to 48,301 contracts from 54,809 previously. At 5 pm, the FBM KLCI eased 1.49 points or 0.09 per cent to 1,590.38 from Wednesday’s close of 1,591.87. Source : BERNAMA News

PUTRAJAYA, A total of 10,423 websites have been blocked for violating laws from Jan 1, 2022 to Aug 1 this year, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said. In a statement today, the MCMC said 95.7 per cent of the blocked websites fell into five main categories: online gambling (4,484 sites), pornography (3,271), copyright infringement (1,654), scams or illegal investments (316) and prostitution (249 sites). ‘Over the past five years (since 2020), the highest number of website blocks for harmful online content was recorded in 2021 with 6,571 blocks. KUALA LUMPUR, The High Court here has set Dec 9 to hear former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin and his family’s judicial review application seeking to have their bank accounts unfrozen by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Federal counsel Mohammad Sallehuddin Md Ali, representing the Attorney-General’s Chambers, confirmed that the date was set by deputy registrar Siti Nur Hafizah Mohd Sokran during an online case management (e-Review) session, today. ‘The application will be heard before Judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Md Shahid,’ Mohammad Sallehuddin said when contacted. The proceedings were also attended by lawyer Muhammad Firdaus Shaik Alauddin, who is representing
