KUALA LUMPUR, The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa has given the assurance that Kuala Lumpur remains safe following public concern due to the sinkhole incident on Jalan Masjid India last Friday. However, she reminded the public to exercise caution when in the vicinity of the area. ‘The police are taking measures to secure the area and we do not allow the public to enter, but other areas in Kuala Lumpur remain safe,’ she told reporters after visiting the location where a drain collapsed in Jalan Pantai Permai, leaving a massive hole in the ground.

KUALA LUMPUR, The retail price of RON97 petrol and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will drop five sen to RM3.42 and RM3.18 per litre respectively, from tomorrow until Sept 4. PUTRAJAYA, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil today announced his withdrawal from the contest for the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) presidency. Fahmi said the decision was made following the Cabinet’s decision today to prohibit Ministers or Deputy Ministers from running for or holding the position of president in any sports association. ‘This is based on a Cabinet decision from 2007. KUALA LUMPUR, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) have been asked to inspect the sewage pipe at the location of another sinkhole that occurred near the police beat base on Jalan Masjid India early today.
