KUALA LUMPUR, The government has agreed to amend the Trustee (Incorporation) Act 1952 (Act 258) and the Trustee Act 1949 (Act 208) to prevent misappropriation of funds by the established trustees for purposes such as religious, social, and welfare activities. The matter was agreed upon during today’s meeting of the Special Cabinet Committee on National Governance (JKKTN), chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Office said that the amendment to Act 208 includes the definition related to beneficial ownership, those who benefit from the trust bodies, among other things. KUCHING, The Works Ministry (KKR) is currently drafting a new National Slope Policy to replace the previous policy that expired last year, said its minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi here today. According to him, the policy has been proposed to take effect starting this year until 2035, taking into account current developments and more proactive measures to reduce any incidents such as landslides. “We need to have a national policy regarding slopes. We do not take it lightly because the consequences are detrimental. As a result, property can be affected and lives can be lost,” he told reporters here

PUTRAJAYA, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wants all public-private partnership (PPP) projects to adopt and be implemented with strict and uncompromising governance principles. He said under the MADANI Government, the PPP projects should also take into account the issue of workers’ wages, as well as aspects of family needs including housing, education and health according to the circumstances and company’s capabilities. ‘This is what makes the PPP concept under the MADANI Government special. This is how we should continue doing and to consider in every social and public-private partnership,’ he said when launching the Public-Private Partnership Master Plan 2030 (PIKAS 2030)

ALOR SETAR, A flood relief centre at Sungai Seluang Mosque in Kulim was closed at 9.30 am today. Kulim Civil Defence officer Captain (PA) Amirul Aliff Ahmad said the centre, opened on Saturday, had housed 48 people from 12 families. “The evacuees, from Kampung Sungai Seluang Atas and Kampung Sungai Seluang Bawah were allowed to return to their homes after the floodwaters there receded,” he said in a statement. Manila: A partnership between the national government, the Australian government and non-government organizations (NGOs) launched a fellowship program to bridge marine scientific research with policymakers toward protecting the Philippine seas. During the Manginhas launch event on Monday, the NGO Asia Foundation awarded a fellowship to 20 professionals composed of marine scientists and government executives as part of the Kalalawdan Fellowship Program. The fellowship seeks to develop champions for the Philippine seas by having them undergo a series of immersive workshops that would enhance their understanding of marine scientific research and policymaking.
