Caraga: Caraga Region leads Mindanao in the total number of vaccinated children as the measles-rubella vaccination drive continues.
According to Philippines News Agency, data provided by the Department of Health in the Caraga Region (DOH-13) indicates the region has achieved 77 percent of its target, reaching 207,171 of the 269,295 children prioritized for the campaign. Northern Mindanao follows with 75 percent, while Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Davao Region recorded accomplishments of 74, 69, and 65 percent, respectively.
DOH-13 stated that best practices are among the factors that helped the agency achieve high accomplishments as the measles-rubella vaccination continues. These practices include house-to-house information drives and strong partnerships with provincial and municipal health offices, local government units, and communities. DOH-13 also augmented its vaccination teams, conducted regular meetings, and posted progress reports across the region.
Creative strategies, such as fetching children from their homes and providing toys and snacks, also boosted participation. The vaccination drive, launched last Jan. 19, will conclude on Feb. 13.
