Cacdac Reminds Attach©s to Serve with Respect After MWO Staff Recall

Manila: Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac has convened labor attach©s and reminded overseas migrant workers office personnel to remain committed to serving Filipinos abroad, especially in times of crises such as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East region.

According to Philippines News Agency, Cacdac, in a radio interview on Thursday, said the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) Bahrain staff member who acted disrespectfully towards overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) seeking cash aid was ordered to return to the Philippines. The staff member's conduct, described as disrespectful, was captured on camera, leading to his recall for a full investigation upon his return to the Philippines. Administrative sanctions are likely to follow.

The incident involved the staff member rudely addressing OFWs, suggesting there were no available funds for assistance and challenging them to complain to higher authorities. Cacdac emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect the values expected from government employees. He reiterated the need for sobriety, hard work, humility, and service during these challenging times.

Cacdac stated that the employee has not yet provided a formal explanation for his behavior, but he noted that the video evidence was sufficient to determine the inappropriate nature of the actions. In response to the situation, Cacdac convened labor attach©s, reiterating the importance of maintaining dedication to serving OFWs, particularly during crises. He stressed the need for continued focus and commitment to serving Filipinos abroad, urging personnel to uphold their sense of service during these trying times.
