CAAP Reaffirms Partnership with OTS to Enhance Aviation Security

Manila: The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has reaffirmed its commitment to work closely with the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) to ensure both modernization and security in the aviation sector. This collaboration aims to integrate security measures into every aspect of airport operations, from expansion plans to compliance audits, as stated by CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario.

According to Philippines News Agency, OTS spokesperson Kim Marquez highlighted the importance of the partnership in ensuring efficient passenger movement. Marquez explained that while CAAP is responsible for the safety aspects of civil aviation, such as managing aircraft accidents, OTS focuses on security threats, including terrorism and hijacking. Hence, the collaboration between the two agencies is crucial for the protection of passengers.

Marquez further noted that CAAP oversees safety in the 44 commercial airports it operates. She emphasized that Director General Del Rosario, with his background as a former OTS administrator, is dedicated to maintaining strong ties with the agency to enhance aviation security.

In a recent event, Del Rosario was invited to speak at the OTS flag ceremony, where he stressed the importance of aligning airport efficiency and regulatory compliance with robust security measures. CAAP reiterated that aviation safety and security are essential pillars for public trust and national development.
