Butuan Residents Enjoy Fresh, Affordable Produce at BFAR Kadiwa Fair

Butuan city: Residents of Butuan City purchased fresh and affordable agricultural and fishery products at the one-day Kadiwa Fair held at the Masao Aquaculture Center. This event was part of the Farmers' and Fisherfolk's Month celebration, aiming to provide the community with access to fresh produce at lower prices.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mercy Lumidas, a 36-year-old resident of Masao, expressed her satisfaction with the fair. She mentioned buying assorted vegetables from three stalls, highlighting that the prices were lower compared to the usual market rates. She appreciated the freshness of the produce and encouraged the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 13 (Caraga) to organize more such fairs in their area.

Rosita David, a 26-year-old from Barangay Libertad, shared her experience of purchasing fresh fruits during her visit to relatives in Masao. She noted the affordability and freshness of the fruits, which she deemed beneficial for her children. David also expressed her hope for more Kadiwa Fairs in Butuan City to enhance residents' access to farm and fishery products.

The fair emphasized the importance of supporting local producers by featuring a diverse range of commodities, fishery goods, and other locally made products. Eight fisherfolk groups from Butuan City and nearby towns participated, selling their products directly to the public.

"While we celebrate Farmers' and Fisherfolk's Month, we are also giving Butuan residents the chance to buy fresh products directly from the source," BFAR-13 stated. The agency encouraged residents to visit the Masao Aquaculture Center to benefit from the fresh, low-priced agricultural and fishery products available.

The event also offered participating groups a platform to showcase their products and establish direct connections with potential buyers.
