Pasay city: The Bureau of Customs seized an abandoned inbound shipment containing an estimated 1.2 kilos of suspected shabu worth PHP8.3 million during a warehouse inspection at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
According to Philippines News Agency, the shipment, which arrived in March, originated from Uganda and was consigned to a recipient in Cavite. It consisted of two packages declared as 'auto gear bearings (parts for machines).' Upon physical examination on May 19, Customs authorities discovered approximately 1,234 grams of suspected shabu concealed within the parcels.
The seized contraband was turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for laboratory examination, case build-up, and appropriate legal proceedings. Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno commended the operating units involved, underscoring the bureau's firm stance against drug smuggling and its continued efforts to enhance border protection, in support of the directive of Pres. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to intensify anti-smuggling operations.
