Manila: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has instituted a three-year validity period for exporter registration under its Client Profile Registration System (CPRS). This initiative is part of the agency's efforts to enhance the reliability and efficiency of export processing.
According to Philippines News Agency, Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno outlined in a memorandum signed on April 24 that exporter registration will remain valid for three years from the date of approval. However, it can be deactivated, suspended, or canceled earlier if required by existing laws, rules, and regulations. Nepomuceno emphasized that this move is aimed at ensuring the accuracy and relevance of the exporter database within the CPRS, thereby facilitating a more responsive export environment.
Commissioner Nepomuceno stated, "This measure ensures that our exporter database remains accurate and reflective of active stakeholders." He further added that by setting a defined validity period, the BOC is committed to improving data quality while promoting a conducive environment for legitimate exporters.
In line with the new policy, Nepomuceno has tasked the Management Information Systems and Technology Group with updating the CPRS to accommodate the prescribed validity period. This initiative aligns with Customs Administrative Order No. 08-2020, which mandates exporter registration in the CPRS prior to commencing export activities.
The BOC chief has also instructed all District Collectors to ensure the proper implementation of this policy, which includes the verification and updating of exporter registration records to maintain compliance with the new guidelines.
