Manila: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) declared a failed bidding for the auction of 11 luxury vehicles after no interested parties attended the scheduled sale. The announcement was made by the BOC Auction Committee during proceedings at the Situation Room located on the ground floor of the Office of the Commissioner (OCOM) building in Port Area, Manila.
According to Philippines News Agency, Lawyer Jann Obillos, who heads the committee, referenced Customs Administrative Order No. 03-2020, which stipulates that an auction must be declared as a failed bidding if no bids are received. "I, together with the members of the Auction Committee present today, hereby declared this public auction failed due to the absence of registered bidders," Obillos stated.
Despite this outcome, the BOC has already scheduled another auction in hopes of attracting potential buyers. "For your information, the next public auction for the luxury vehicles will be on April 28," Obillos added. The list of vehicles includes high-end models such as a Rolls-Royce Cullinan 2021, Bentley Continental 2021, Mercedes-Benz S680 Maybach 2023, BMW X6 2023, and several others.
The BOC aims to generate approximately PHP200 million from the sale of these luxury cars.
