Mandaluyong city: College of Saint Benilde outlasted Arellano University, 25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-11, for its second straight win in the 2026 V-League Collegiate Challenge at Gameville Central Park on Sunday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Reymark Betco led the Blazers with a stellar performance, scoring 27 points, 25 of which came from attacks. Rocky Motol contributed significantly with 24 points, showcasing the strength of the reigning National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) champions. The Blazers also secured a victory against the Mapua Cardinals in their previous match, winning 19-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-21 on Saturday.

Mike Adrian Balbacal added 13 points to Benilde's score, while Chris Villanueva played a crucial role in orchestrating the offense with 30 excellent sets and two points. CSB coach Arnold Laniog emphasized the importance of mindset in overcoming challenges, stating that the physical strength of the players is complemented by their mental resilience. He credited the core group from last year's NCAA for their contribution to winning the decisive fifth set.

For Arellano University, Jiwen Sinuto delivered a commendable performance with 18 points, including 16 attacks and two blocks. Team captain Daniel Agovida also made a significant impact, scoring 13 points with nine attacks and four blocks.

Looking ahead, Benilde is set to face Colegio de San Juan de Letran on August 29 at 3 p.m., while Arellano, currently tied with Letran at a 1-1 record, will play against University of Santo Tomas, who are yet to secure a win, at 5 p.m.
