Bicol Surpasses Target for National ID Registration

Bicol: The Philippine Statistics Authority in Bicol (PSA-5) has successfully registered over 5.1 million individuals under the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), surpassing the initial target of 5.09 million Bicolanos.

According to Philippines News Agency, PSA-5 Director Cynthia Perdiz emphasized the robust support from the region for the government’s initiative aimed at fostering inclusive and efficient public services. The success was achieved through ongoing collaboration with partner agencies, notably the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

By integrating national ID registration with Family Development Sessions (FDS), the PSA managed to reach vulnerable communities, ensuring broader inclusion in the registration process. The PSA-5 has announced plans to expand its partnerships to sustain this momentum.

An upcoming initiative, Brigada Eskwela, in collaboration with the Department of Education, is set to provide a significant opportunity for registering school-aged children. As the registration process continues, PSA Bicol has highlighted the importance of utilizing the national ID in digital transformation efforts.

The national ID eVerify platform, which functions as the system’s identity authentication service, offers a secure and efficient method for verifying identities. This platform enables quicker and more reliable access to services across both government and private sectors. The PSA-5 remains committed to completing registration in the Bicol region and maximizing the use of the national ID as a crucial digital innovation for inclusive development.
