The Police Regional Office (PRO) 5 in Bicol reported the seizure of nearly PHP8 million worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of 136 suspects during operations conducted in February.
According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-5 chief Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda disclosed that a total of 127 anti-illegal drug operations were executed throughout the month. These operations included search warrants, buy-bust operations, and other targeted police actions. The efforts resulted in the arrest of nine high-value individuals and 127 street-level individuals. Authorities confiscated 1,169.36 grams of suspected shabu and 73.10 grams of marijuana during these operations.
In addition to the arrests and seizures, at least 205 criminal complaints have been filed in court. This step reinforces the commitment to holding offenders accountable, as stated by Brig. Gen. Miranda. He emphasized that the personnel are actively fulfilling their duties by conducting operations that dismantle illegal drug activities, reflecting a commitment to public safety and the rule of law.
In a related campaign, PRO-5 also placed 270 firearms under its custody in February through 105 "Kontra Boga" and "Bilang Boga" operations. These operations led to the arrest of 65 individuals found in possession of illegal firearms. Brig. Gen. Miranda highlighted the importance of community safety and the ongoing efforts to remove loose firearms from circulation, encouraging citizens to report illegal firearms and cooperate with law enforcement initiatives.
