Legazpi city: The Bicol Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council - Emergency Operations Center (RDRRMC-EOC) has been placed on red alert to prepare for the possible impacts of Mayon Volcano's increasing activity. Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Regional Director and Bicol RDRRMC chair Claudio Yucot stated that the alert status activates all response clusters.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has been assigned responsibilities for camp coordination and management, food and non-food items, and protection. The Department of Health (DOH) is overseeing health matters, while the Philippine National Police (PNP) handles law and order. Logistics are the responsibility of the OCD, shelter is managed by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), and debris clearing falls under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Crisis communication is managed by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), and education is overseen by the Department of Education (DepEd).
Yucot emphasized the importance of regular reporting by cluster agencies to the RDRRMC-EOC to allow for timely data consolidation. The evacuation of residents within the six-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone will be coordinated by local DRRMCs in collaboration with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). He noted the necessity for all response assets to be ready for deployment and under close monitoring.
The DSWD has already distributed Ready-to-Eat Food (RTEF) boxes to families displaced in Camalig town, Albay, with 163 boxes provided to households from Barangays Quirangay and Anoling, currently sheltered at Tagaytay Elementary School and Bariw Elementary School. These RTEF boxes contain no-cook food items such as pre-packaged arroz caldo, champorado, protein biscuits, and tuna paella, meant to address immediate food needs while community kitchens are being established. Additionally, DSWD Bicol Director Norman Laurio mentioned that family food packs (FFPs) containing rice, canned goods, and powdered drinks will also be distributed.
In Tabaco City, modular tents have been supplied to ensure safe and comfortable spaces for evacuees in evacuation centers. The agency's mobile facilities will be deployed to guarantee the ongoing delivery of essential services.
Meanwhile, Albay Governor Noel Rosal has suspended classes in all schools within Mayon's 6-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ). He urged DepEd and school administrators, whose campuses serve as evacuation centers, to adopt alternative learning modalities and work with local government units for assistance. Governor Rosal also instructed the Albay Police Provincial Office and the Philippine Army to enforce security measures around Mayon Volcano, strictly prohibiting entry within the 6-kilometer PDZ, and banning all human activities such as mountain climbing, orchid picking, and vegetable harvesting.
