La trinidad: The municipal government of La Trinidad, Benguet has reiterated that the implementation of curfew hours is a measure intended to ensure public safety. Mayor Roderick Awingan emphasized the importance of the curfew in an interview, stating, "We want our children to be home when it gets dark so that they are protected against possible criminal activities."
According to Philippines News Agency, the town has set a curfew for minors from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. under Executive Order 2025-041. Additionally, karaoke and liquor-serving establishments are permitted to operate only until 10 p.m. Mayor Awingan has urged parents and guardians to ensure their children are home before the curfew begins.
For local businesses, Awingan has instructed the local police to enforce compliance with intensified visibility and patrols. He stated that their duties include preventing minors from entering liquor-serving establishments. Furthermore, he encouraged community members to report any curfew violations by providing information to the police or local barangay tanods (village watchmen).
Lorna Tumilang, a resident of Balili in La Trinidad and a mother of two minor sons, expressed her support for the curfew measure. She pointed out that the curfew encourages children to return home promptly, reducing the risk of curfew violations. As a teacher, Tumilang believes the curfew aids in supporting children's education by allowing them to focus on their lessons and schoolwork rather than spending time outside. "I am fully supportive of this as a mother and as a teacher," she remarked.
