BAI: ASF Cases in Nueva Vizcaya Contained

Nueva vizcaya: The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) on Thursday assured that African swine fever (ASF) cases in Nueva Vizcaya have been contained and remain under control.

According to Philippines News Agency, the BAI clarified that the ASF cases detected in Nueva Vizcaya this year are not indicative of an ongoing widespread outbreak. The BAI emphasized in a statement that the reported cases were isolated incidents that have been promptly addressed and remain under control, with no evidence of transmission or spread in the province.

For 2026, around 23 ASF cases have been reported in the municipalities of Kasibu, Bayombong, and Villaverde, as stated by the Provincial Veterinary Services Office (PVSO). In February, ASF cases in Kasibu, involving a single farmer, were already contained through the coordinated response of concerned agencies. The PVSO confirmed that the case is no longer active, based on current monitoring and surveillance results.

The BAI assured the public and the swine industry that veterinary authorities continue to closely monitor the situation and implement appropriate control measures to prevent disease spread. Farmers are encouraged to immediately report suspected cases and strictly observe farm biosecurity protocols to support the early detection and rapid containment of ASF.
