Baguio: Mayor Benjamin Magalong has urged residents to adhere to fuel and energy-saving measures as the country faces a national energy emergency due to the Middle East conflict. In an advisory, Magalong emphasized the importance of planning trips carefully, avoiding unnecessary travel, and conserving gasoline and energy, especially as travelers flock to the city for the Holy Week and summer season.
According to Philippines News Agency, the mayor also advised residents to limit the use of non-essential appliances, turn off lights and devices when not in use, and utilize natural light and ventilation. He highlighted that energy conservation is a shared responsibility and essential for environmental care.
The Baguio city government has already begun implementing energy and fuel-saving measures in line with the national government's Memorandum Circular 114. Despite the onset of the summer heat, which is reportedly more tolerable compared to other regions, Magalong stressed the need for these energy-saving practices.
Magalong further stated that by collectively adopting responsible energy conservation habits, individuals and families can help alleviate the strain on communities and ensure that limited resources are utilized efficiently.
