Baguio City Allocates P190-M for Infrastructure Projects, Including New Parking Facility

Baguio city: The city government has announced the allocation of PHP190 million for 46 infrastructure projects, one of which is a multi-level parking building beside the capitol.

According to Philippines News Agency, major projects will be funded with PHP91.3 million, while community-level initiatives will receive PHP38.7 million, as stated by Mayor Benjamin Magalong in a recent interview. The proposed parking facility is expected to accommodate between 60 to 80 vehicles, aimed at alleviating current roadside parking congestion for clients and employees.

Mayor Magalong emphasized the importance of expediting these projects to enhance safety and public convenience, especially for those using the roads and passing beside riprap walls. Engineer Rodrigo Martinez from the city engineering office provided further details, stating that this year's projects include road repairs, retaining walls, sidewalks, and drainage systems. He also mentioned that the city oversees 260 kilometers of local roads and is planning a four-story collapsible parking facility.

Additionally, the Bids and Awards Committees for both infrastructure and goods will be streaming bid opening procedures via the Baguio City Public Information Facebook page every Thursday and Friday. Mayor Magalong has mandated real-time streaming of these processes as part of the city's transparency efforts.
