Bacolod Tricycle Driver Penalized for Reckless Driving Incident

Bacolod: A tricycle driver in Bacolod has been fined and had his license suspended by the Land Transportation Office - Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) following a reckless driving incident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian in April.

According to Philippines News Agency, the resolution was delivered to the driver's residence in Barangay Pahanocoy on June 16. The tricycle driver was found administratively liable for reckless driving due to a fatal road crash in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City.

An investigation established the driver's liability after his tricycle struck a pedestrian, leading to the victim's death. The driver has been fined PHP2,000. Additionally, the LTO-NIR's Intelligence and Investigation Unit confiscated his driver's license, implementing a 90-day suspension.

The agency emphasized its commitment to enforcing traffic laws and holding motorists accountable for violations that compromise public safety. The police report detailed that the 69-year-old female pedestrian was crossing the road along Bangga Tomaro when the tricycle, operated by the 64-year-old driver, collided with her on the morning of April 13. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries later that day.
