Bacolod DOH Hospital Unveils P92-M Emergency Room Upgrade

Bacolod: The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), the apex hospital of the Department of Health (DOH) in Negros Island Region, unveiled its upgraded Emergency Department here Friday afternoon. This development comes ahead of the formal reopening scheduled for next week, marking the completion of an almost PHP92-million renovation project. The project, funded by the CLMMRH management, concludes a three-month temporary closure of the emergency room (ER) that began at the end of September.

According to Philippines News Agency, CLMMRH medical center chief Dr. Joan Cerrada indicated that the public can anticipate improved patient care in the newly renovated ER, which previously suffered from inefficiencies and was not conducive for hospital personnel. "They can expect better patient experience. That's what we are trying to do," Dr. Cerrada stated. The ER currently serves 80 to 120 patients daily and is equipped with 65 beds and 29 stretchers.

Dr. Cerrada also mentioned that additional institutional workers and housekeeping staff have been hired to support the operations of the upgraded Emergency Department. The hospital management released a statement noting that the new ER aims to improve patient flow, enhance efficiency in critical care response, and provide a safer, more dignified environment for both patients and healthcare workers. The statement further added that with these upgraded facilities and improved systems, CLMMRH solidifies its role as a tertiary referral hospital capable of addressing the growing emergency healthcare needs of the region.
