Bacolod city: The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is gearing up for an intensified campaign against illegal drugs under the command of Col. Eugene Rebadomia, who succeeded Col. Joeresty Coronica as the city's police chief.
According to Philippines News Agency, Rebadomia, who assumed the post as officer-in-charge, stated that Mayor Greg Gasataya has directed him to focus on the all-out fight against illegal drugs, echoing the directive of Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, director of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region. Rebadomia emphasized his commitment to continue the work started by his predecessor and to enhance operations targeting illegal drugs, acknowledging the mayor's concern over the issue.
Gasataya expressed his support for the new BCPO chief, highlighting the campaign against illegal drugs as crucial for curbing other illegal activities in the city. He noted that many crimes are linked to illegal drugs and received a commitment from Rebadomia to address the problem.
During Col. Coronica's tenure from June 23, 2024, to January 9, 2026, the BCPO seized approximately 33,282 grams of shabu valued at PHP227.844 million and arrested 1,167 individuals involved in drug-related activities across 897 operations.
Brig. Gen. Ibay encouraged Rebadomia to lead with integrity, maintain discipline, care for personnel, and enhance coordination with the local government and other stakeholders. He reminded the force that while leadership may change, their mission to serve the people and uphold the rule of law remains constant.
