‘Balik Probinsya’ beneficiaries undergo community reintegration

The 41 individuals who arrived in Cebu and Bohol from Metro Manila after availing of the “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa” Program (BP2P) are now undergoing reintegration in their respective communities, a social welfare official said on Wednesday.   Rebecca Geamala, DSWD-7 regional director, said these individuals availed of the program that aims to decongest urban poor communities by sending families back to their home provinces.   They arrived in Cebu and Bohol on Tuesday last week, she said.   She said after two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, vulnerable families are still not able to cope with the ill effects

11 NPA rebels surrender in Bicol

A total of 11 New People’s Army (NPA) rebels operating under the Bicol Regional Party Committee (BRPC) voluntarily surrendered on Wednesday and were received by the Area Police Command-Southern Luzon (APC-SL) in Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City.   In a report, Maj. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) spokesperson, said the surrender was witnessed by Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, APC-SL deputy commander and Maj. Gen. Rhoderick Armamento, APC-SL acting commender, during a short program held at APC-SL headquarters.   “They (rebels) also surrendered the firearms, ammunition, and assorted war materials that were in their possession,” the report said.

Marcos names nat’l security adviser, DAR chief

President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has named two more members to his Cabinet, his camp announced Wednesday.   Marcos appointed retired University of the Philippines (UP) Prof. Clarita Carlos and ABONO party-list Rep.
