Manila: The Philippine Navy (PN) on Tuesday said the just-concluded visit of the Royal Australian Navy's HMAS Toowoomba (FFH-156) to the country reflects the growing naval partnership and commitment of the Philippines and Australia in safeguarding the maritime domain. The Australian missile frigate arrived in Subic Bay, Zambales on Feb. 13 and departed on Feb. 16.
According to Philippines News Agency, the engagement reflects the growing depth of cooperation between the navies of the two countries, built on mutual trust, professionalism, and a common purpose. This visit further highlights the sustained momentum of defense engagements between the Philippines and Australia, which reflect shared strategic interests in maintaining regional stability and maritime security, as stated by PN public affairs office chief Capt. Marie Angelica DC Sisican in a statement.
She added that activities during HMAS Toowoomba's visit strengthened interoperability, deepened professional exchanges, and enhanced the overall readiness of the two naval forces to address maritime challenges. Sisican also emphasized that subject matter expert interactions and engagements provide both navies with insights and operational experience that contribute to more cooperation in future maritime operations.
Sisican further stated that the PN remains grateful for Australia's steadfast support and stands firm with like-minded partners in advancing a secure, stable, and rules-based maritime order in the region. The engagement is viewed as part of continuing efforts to build credible defense capabilities, reinforce mutual confidence, and ensure that the maritime domain remains safe and secure for all.
