Aurora: Several sections of major roads in Aurora province remain restricted to one-lane traffic following landslides and floods caused by continuous rains brought by Tropical Storm Ramil, the Department of Public Works and Highways-Aurora District Engineering Office said Monday. Although no typhoon signal was raised over the province, cloudy weather conditions persist, impacting the Baler-Casiguran and Maddela-Dinadiawan Roads – two important routes connecting several municipalities in northern Aurora.
According to Philippines News Agency, portions of the Baler-Casiguran Road are limited to one lane for heavy vehicles only, while other sections are passable with caution due to debris flow. Further north in Barangay Ditawini, Dinalungan, several points along the same road remain one-lane passable due to successive landslides.
Meanwhile, on the Maddela-Dinadiawan Road in Barangay Calaocan and Barangay Dinadiawan, several sections were also reported as passable by only one lane due to landslide debris blocking the road. District Maintenance Engineer Fredelito Mingua said clearing operations are ongoing and expected to be completed Tuesday afternoon.
‘Our personnel are on full alert and continuously monitoring road conditions to ensure the safety of all travelers,’ Mingua said. Mingua urged motorists traveling along affected routes, particularly the Baler-Casiguran and Maddela-Dinadiawan Roads, to exercise extreme caution and avoid unnecessary travel in high-risk areas.
Despite the obstructions, all other national roads and bridges across the province remain passable to all types of vehicles, he said. Meanwhile, in Dinalungan town, troopers from the Army’s 91st Infantry Battalion swiftly responded to a Monday’s landslide incident in Barangay Ditawini as heavy rains brought by Ramil caused road blockages and safety hazards in the area.
A team of soldiers, Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit members, and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office personnel launched a humanitarian and disaster response to clear the road and ensure the residents’ safety. Clearing operations were promptly carried out to restore normal traffic flow and prevent further incidents. No casualties or injuries were reported during the incident.
