Pasay city: The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has announced that it will reward the medalists of the recently concluded Asian Youth Games held in Bahrain with significant cash incentives. This announcement was made by PSC chairman Patrick John Gregorio during a press conference hosted by the Philippine Olympic Committee at the East Ocean Palace Restaurant in Pasay City.
According to Philippines News Agency, Gregorio detailed that each gold medalist will receive PHP500,000, while silver and bronze medalists will be awarded PHP300,000 and PHP100,000 respectively. In addition to the cash rewards, the gold medalists will be gifted with units of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Silver and bronze medalists will also receive iPhone 17 units, courtesy of SportsPlus, the official gaming partner of the Philippine Olympic Committee.
Team Philippines achieved an impressive tally of seven golds, seven silvers, and ten bronzes, securing the 12th position in the 45-nation competition that took place from October 22 to 31. The gold medalists include US-based Filipino Isabella Joseline Butler in jiujitsu, Kram Airam Carpio in pencak silat, Charlie Ratcliff in Modern MMA, Pi Durden Wangkay in athletics, Lyre Anie Ngina and Zeth Gabriel Bueno in muay thai, and the duo Jan Brix Ramiscal and Tyron Jamborillo in the muay mixed team event.
Silver medals were claimed by Naomi Cesar in athletics, Travis Ratcliff in Traditional MMA, Kristen Ambriel Aguila in taekwondo, Jan Brix Ramiscal in Wai Kru, Jasmine Dagame and Jamesray Mishael Ajido in muay thai and swimming respectively, and Jhodie Peralta in weightlifting. The bronze medalists included a mix of athletes competing in weightlifting, boxing, teqball, muay thai, jiujitsu, taekwondo, and Modern MMA, showcasing the diverse talents of the young Filipino athletes.
These incentives and recognition aim to motivate and support the athletes as they continue to excel in their respective sports on the international stage.
