Antique Water District Operations Back to Normal After Two Typhoons

Sibalom: The Sibalom Water District (SWD) assured its more than 4,000 household consumers that its supply remains clean and sufficient despite two successive typhoons. Operation is now back to normal after the repair of one power generator set and the restoration of power, SWD general manager Jonathan De Gracia said in an interview Monday. ‘The water from our pumping station is being chlorinated to make sure that it is clean and safe for drinking,’ De Gracia said.

According to Philippines News Agency, the operation of SWD’s pumping stations is dependent on the Antique Electric Cooperative. ‘Since there was intermittent power during Typhoon Tino, our operation was also somehow affected,’ De Gracia said. The SWD has six pumping stations around the municipality. One is still using a generator, which bogged down just before Typhoon Tino.
