Antique: The Antique Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) is reminding the public to always observe the 4S strategy as the province has already recorded 249 dengue cases and one death since the start of this year. The five highest cases from Jan. 1 until Wednesday were from the towns of Bugasong, with 37; Sibalom, 35; Valderrama, 27; Culasi, 21 and San Jose de Buenavista, with 18 cases.
According to Philippines News Agency, the lone fatality was from the municipality of Patnongon, which has 14 cases. The victim died on May 3. 'A female, 99 years old, from Patnongon died due to severe dengue,' Irene Duldoco, Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) information officer, said in an interview on Wednesday.
Duldoco said the public is always reminded of the 4S, namely search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, secure self-protection, seek early consultation, and support fogging or spraying only in hotspot areas to prevent an impending outbreak. To intensify dengue awareness, they will be holding a health talk, together with the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development, in the municipality of Sebaste on Thursday.
