Antique: The Antique Provincial Board requested employees of the provincial government to implement cost-cutting measures in light of the current concerns about energy. The request was in the form of a resolution, authored by Board Member Karmila Rose Dimamay, and passed by the provincial board during its regular session on Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the resolution encouraged department heads to avoid unnecessary official travel using the provincial government-issued vehicles and to promote online meetings. The Province of Antique recognizes the urgent need to adopt prudent measures in response to the prevailing energy crisis affecting the country, and that the operation and maintenance of the government motor vehicles constitute a significant portion of the department's expenditures.
The resolution, sponsored by Board Member Dante Beriong, also urged the conscious and efficient use of electricity by the employees in government offices being equally vital to energy conservation. Beriong said that the advancement of digital technology and the availability of online platforms provide viable alternatives to physical meetings, thereby reducing the fuel cost, travel time, and environmental impact.
The provincial government currently implements the four-day workweek with employees reporting at 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Thursday.
