San jose de buenavista: It’s all systems go for the 2025 Antique Provincial Athletic Association Meet (APAAM) that will be held in this capital town on December 4 to 7. Approximately 500 athletes, coaches, and trainers are expected to participate in the event, competing in 25 sports disciplines.
According to Philippines News Agency, Dr. Olvier Servillon, Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique Sports Officer, mentioned in an interview on Wednesday that the athletic delegation from the island town of Caluya has already arrived and is now billeted at the Antique National School. He noted, “We expect the other athletic delegations to also arrive Thursday morning just before the APAAM opening ceremony.”
Currently, final inspections of the playing venues are being conducted at the Binirayan Sports Gymnasium, at Camp Gen. Leandro Fullon in San Jose de Buenavista, and at the University of Antique main campus in Sibalom town. Other sports events will be held in the municipality of Hamtic.
“The provincial government has allocated PHP4 million for the provincial meet, while the 18 local government units (LGUs) are also providing financial support to their delegations,” Servillon stated. He advised the athletes to play fair and do their best, adding, “Those who will win in the APAAM will compose the Antique delegation during the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association to be held in Passi City, Iloilo.”
