Antique Police Strengthen Cybercrime Response with New Dedicated Office

Antique: The Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) inaugurated its new office dedicated to cybercrime response. Acting APPO Director Col. Ryan Devaras emphasized that as technology advances, the challenges to maintaining peace and order have also evolved, particularly with the rise of digital crimes.

According to Philippines News Agency, the inauguration of the Provincial Cybercrime Response Team's office marks a significant development for residents who previously had to travel to the Police Regional Office 6 in Iloilo City to file cybercrime complaints. Col. Devaras noted that despite the limited number of cyber-related crimes in Antique, victims often endured the inconvenience of traveling to another city for assistance.

The APPO is equipping its investigators with the necessary training to aid cybercrime victims around the clock, including weekends. Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, Director of PRO-6, highlighted the office as a milestone, signaling a new era in police protection as crimes continue to evolve with modernization.

The newly inaugurated office is outfitted with computer units to support its operations, ensuring that the police are ready to maintain peace and order in the digital age.
