San jose de buenavista: The local police in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique, are set to involve barangays in their intensified efforts to combat illegal drug activities. This initiative aims to enhance community engagement and awareness as part of the broader demand reduction campaign against illegal drugs.
According to Philippines News Agency, San Jose de Buenavista's chief of police, Maj. Geremy Ian Magbanua, announced plans to conduct symposiums across the municipality's 28 barangays. This strategy is designed to empower the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) to assist in reducing the demand for illegal drugs through increased community awareness.
The campaign will combine educational efforts with robust law enforcement activities. Maj. Magbanua emphasized the focus on identifying connections to drug associations or groups to facilitate targeted apprehensions. Last year, these efforts resulted in the seizure of PHP12 million worth of drugs from 23 operations.
In a recent operation on Tuesday, police apprehended a high-value individual known as alias Zaldy in Barangay Funda Dalipe. The arrest led to the confiscation of 80 grams of shabu, valued at PHP544,000 on the street.
During the installation of Col. Ryan Devaras as the new director of the Antique Police Provincial Office, Governor Paolo Everardo Javier underscored the importance of prioritizing the anti-drug campaign within the province.
