Alyansa Senate Candidates Emphasize Infrastructure’s Role in Job Creation and Call for Tighter Budget Oversight

Malolos: Senate candidates under the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas coalition highlighted the importance of implementing more infrastructure projects and enforcing stricter budget oversight to drive economic growth and sustain job creation in local communities.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported a stable annual employment growth rate of 96.1 percent in March. Former senator Panfilo Lacson, speaking at a press conference in Malolos, Bulacan, emphasized the economic benefits of large-scale infrastructure projects, citing the Bulacan Airport as an example. Lacson explained that once the airport becomes fully operational, it will significantly boost economic activities and naturally increase the demand for labor.

Lacson also urged local governments to prioritize hiring locals for these projects. Meanwhile, ACT-CIS Representative Erwin Tulfo underscored the necessity of efficient public infrastructure spending to prevent budget leakages and called for enhanced oversight to avoid fund misuse. He advocated for expanding livelihood opportunities to ensure more people have a steady income, rather than staying at home and engaging in gossip.

The Alyansa candidates expressed that with improved spending practices and a strong connection between infrastructure and employment, flagship projects like the Bulacan Airport can deliver enduring and inclusive economic advantages for local communities.
