Police officers from the Agusan del Norte 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (ADN1PMFC) received praise from citizens for reviving a seven-year-old boy who drowned at a beach resort in Carmen town over the weekend.
Col. Romulo Dimaya Jr., the ADN1PMFC commander, said Police Master Sgt. Von Harjie Abucayan, Cpl. Arnie Baron Jr., and Patrolman Richie Boy Peligro were biking and swimming Sunday when they noticed an unconscious child floating along the resort's shoreline.
“At around 11:25 a.m., Abucayan, noticed the child floating some eight meters in distance from the seashore,” Dimaya said in a statement Monday.
He said Abucayan immediately ran towards the sea, grabbed the boy out of the water, and placed him on a table.
Baron and Peligro then applied first-aid on the unconscious minor.
The boy, later identified as Christopher Durano, was successfully revived at around 11:45 a.m. after minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rushed to Nasipit District Hospital.
“This incident serves as proof that the people of Agusan del Norte can always trust and rely on the Philippine National Police in any given situation,” Dimaya said.
