Albay Allocates PHP78 Million for 911 Command Center to Boost Disaster Response

Albay: The provincial government of Albay will establish a 911 command center to strengthen disaster resilience and response efforts during calamities and emergencies. Governor Noel Rosal stated that the province has allocated PHP78 million for the project, aimed at ensuring accurate, timely, and factual reporting during disasters.

According to Philippines News Agency, the governor emphasized the necessity of the command center, noting that Albay is a typhoon-prone and calamity-prone area. He highlighted the need for connecting the province’s 15 local government units (LGUs) and three cities to effectively manage incidents, traffic, and accidents. The installation of software and hardware, including computers, radios, audio, and networking equipment, is set to begin next year following the bidding process.

Governor Rosal indicated that the installation process is expected to start between January and February, marking a new strength for the province in disaster resilience. He urged other municipal and city LGUs to invest in new technology to enhance disaster management capabilities. In addition to the command center, the provincial government has also allocated PHP5 million for procuring goods to augment resources during potential weather disturbances for the rest of the year.
