Manila: Assistance provided to families affected by the impact of tropical cyclones has amounted to around PHP2.5 billion, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Friday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the disaster response agency reported that the aid has benefitted an estimated 2.08 million families from various regions including Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Central Luzon, National Capital Region, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas. The assistance comprises both food and non-food items and was provided by a combination of government and non-government organizations.
In related developments, the death toll from the tropical cyclones remains at 44, with 18 individuals injured and five still missing. The number of damaged houses stands at approximately 3,778, while around 606 have been completely destroyed.
