Tagaytay: The Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) commended the Philippines for its successful hosting of the 45th Asian Track Championships and 14th Asian Para Track Championships at the Tagaytay CT Velodrome in Cavite.
According to Philippines News Agency, ACC president Dat³ Amarjit Singh Gill highlighted the Philippines' role in the development of track cycling in Asia. He praised the country's investment in world-class facilities, including a 250-meter indoor, homologated velodrome, positioning the nation as an emerging force in Asian cycling. During the Gala Night celebrating the ACC's 33rd foundation anniversary in Tagaytay, Gill presented a plaque of appreciation to PhilCycling president Abraham Tolentino, acknowledging his leadership and vision.
The new Tagaytay CT Velodrome, built for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, is located next to a UCI-standard BMX track. PhilCycling president and Philippine Olympic Committee president, Abraham Tolentino, expressed satisfaction with the hosting of the championships, stating, "We're on cloud nine." He extended gratitude to supporters and emphasized the significance of hosting an international event.
In the competition, China maintained its dominance by securing four more gold medals, bringing its total to 17 golds, nine silvers, and one bronze. Japan and South Korea followed in the medal tally. Notable performances included Sichen Huang in the junior men omnium and Zhengyu Pei in the elite men individual pursuit for China. Other winners came from Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Korea, and Uzbekistan.
The Philippines' Patrick Gerard Lee achieved a bronze in the men's C5 scratch race of para cycling, marking a highlight for the host nation in the competition.
