National Security Adviser (NSA) Eduardo A±o on Wednesday filed criminal charges against 18 former Marines, lawyer Levito Baligod, and former congressman Mike Defensor for implicating him in the alleged delivery of money to public officials. The respondents have been charged with cybercrime and unlawful publication and utterances before the Department of Justice (DOJ). "I was really surprised. And of course, you can say I am really mad with their malicious imputations," A±o said in a media interview.

According to Philippines News Agency, A±o also plans to file cyber libel and perjury charges against the respondents. He expressed his dismay at being included in a signed affidavit, which he described as malicious fabrication and devoid of truth. A±o emphasized his need to defend his honor, asserting that he would not compromise his integrity for any price.

A±o reiterated that even when he served as secretary of the Department of the Interior and Lo cal Government, he never tolerated corruption. He highlighted his dedication to professionalism and love of country, having served in the Armed Forces up to the position of chief of staff and in various administrations without engaging in politics.

A±o further clarified his intentions by stating, "I will never run in any elected position. Trabaho lang ako para sa ating bansa, makatulong sa ating mga kababayan (I just work for our country, to help our countrymen), that's all," reaffirming his commitment to serving the nation without personal political ambitions.
