Davao city: The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao (DSWD-11) announced on Wednesday the successful distribution of over PHP4.1 million in cash relief assistance to 836 service delivery riders in the provinces of Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro. This financial aid was dispensed in a one-day event held at the E-Park in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
According to Philippines News Agency, each beneficiary received PHP5,000 as part of the agency's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program. The cash relief aims to ease the financial challenges faced by the riders, providing them with essential support to sustain their livelihoods and meet their families' daily needs.
DSWD-11 emphasized its ongoing efforts to enhance coordination with partner agencies and stakeholders, ensuring that the implementation of the program is smooth, timely, and transparent. The agency highlighted that this initiative underscores its dedication to promoting the welfare of workers in sectors requiring immediate social protection and support.
The cash relief assistance is part of the DSWD's broader AICS program, which is tailored to support public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers. This program aims to help drivers meet their basic needs amid the increasing operational costs they face.
