8 Bicol Flights Canceled Due to Mayon Volcano Unrest

Albay: Eight flights to and from the Bicol Region were canceled on Monday amid the recent activities of Mayon Volcano in Albay, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said. In an advisory, CAAP announced the affected flights as 5J321, 5J322, 5J325, 5J326, 5J172, 5J173, PR2921, and PR2922, which operate routes between Manila, Cebu, and Daraga.

According to Philippine News Agency, safety remains its top priority as it closely monitors the situation in the province. The authority assured the public that affected passengers are being assisted at the Bicol International Airport. Additionally, pilots are discouraged from flying close to volcanic summits, as ash from sudden eruptions can be hazardous to aircraft.

Mayon Volcano is currently under Alert Level 3, which indicates intensified unrest or magmatic unrest. .
