7 Workers Request DOJ Intervention in Alleged Illegal Arrest Case Against Dasmari±as Police

Dasmari±as: Seven workers who claimed to be illegally arrested by the Dasmari±as City police in Cavite have asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to allow them to file their complaint directly with its main office.

According to Philippines News Agency, the seven workers, consisting of carpenters and security guards of a property, bypassed the Dasmari±as City Prosecutor's Office due to safety concerns related to the "status and influence" of the respondent officers. In their letter to Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida, the workers expressed fears for their safety, suggesting potential danger due to the influence of the accused officers.

The complainants reported that they were detained at a police station on December 21, 2025, without warrants and subsequently charged. They further alleged that the police used force against security personnel at a property embroiled in an ownership dispute.

To ensure a fair and impartial investigation, the workers requested that their complaint-affidavits be submitted directly to the Department of Justice, rather than the Dasmari±as City Prosecutor's Office. Additionally, a separate complaint concerning the incident has been filed with the National Police Commission.
