Cagayan de oro: Seven of the 80 barangays in Cagayan de Oro have successfully passed the 2025 evaluation for the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB). During an interview on Wednesday, Barangay Patag chair Eric Abaday confirmed the results and proudly announced that his barangay was among those recognized.
According to Philippines News Agency, the other barangays that met the criteria include Barangays 10, 19, 28, and 39, as well as Barangays Nazareth and Camaman-an. Abaday emphasized that this achievement is a testament to their dedication to transparency, accountability, and responsive public service, attributing the success to the collective efforts of the community.
The SGLGB criteria encompass compliance with standards set by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), such as sound financial administration, disaster preparedness, safety, peace and order, social protection and sensitivity, business-friendliness and competitiveness, and environmental management. While the official date for the award ceremony and plaque presentation remains pending, the recognition could potentially lead to increased support grants or assistance through national government programs.
Abaday expressed gratitude for the accolade, highlighting it as evidence of the hard work and collaboration among barangay officials, staff, and residents.
