50 Baguio Barangays Earn Seal of Good Local Governance

Baguio: Fifty of the 128 barangays in this summer capital were conferred the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) for their commitment to transparency, accountability, and community service. In an interview on Monday, Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the award is not a mere recognition but a reflection of the dedication of barangay officials to uphold good governance.

According to Philippines News Agency, the recognized barangays include Alfonso Tabora, Andres Bonifacio, Atok Trail, Aurora Hill Proper, and several others, demonstrating their outstanding performance in various governance areas. Mayor Magalong emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating, “It shows the initiatives of barangay officials to serve their constituents well. It shows that they too support the city’s good governance thrust.” He congratulated the 50 barangays for inspiring communities to pursue integrity and progress in public service.

The SGLGB recognizes barangays demonstrating outstanding performance in financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, environmental management, and business competitiveness. The awards were presented during the Regional Celebration of the 34th Local Government Month held on Oct. 24 in a hotel in the city.
