4 Officials Receive New Posts in Latest PNP Leadership Revamp

Manila: Eastern Police District (EPD) director Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante has been designated officer-in-charge of the Civil Security Group (CSG), the Philippine National Police (PNP) unit responsible for regulating firearms and private security services, as part of the organization's latest leadership reshuffle.

According to Philippines News Agency, in an order dated May 29, Lagradante replaced CSG director Brig. Gen. Ross Alvarado, whose new assignment was not immediately disclosed in either the order or by the PNP. Meanwhile, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) deputy director for operations Brig. Gen. Melecio Buslig Jr. was named officer-in-charge of the EPD, replacing Lagradante.

NCRPO regional staff chief Brig. Gen. Rodel Pastor was designated officer-in-charge of the NCRPO deputy director for operations post, while Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group deputy director Col. Martin Gumba was assigned as officer-in-charge of the NCRPO regional staff chief position. The reshuffle takes effect Monday.

Meanwhile, in a statement, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. assured the public that the organization remains open to any form of investigation into the May 13 gun-related incident inside the Senate. Amid calls from Senate leaders for an independent inquiry, Nartatez said the PNP is prepared for any scrutiny of both the incident report and the police force's own investigation.

'Our investigation report was a product of meticulous work and dedication of our personnel to establish what really happened based on the pieces of evidence obtained. We are ready to explain, and we are ready for any scrutiny,' he said. The statement came amid reports that Senate leadership is pushing for a separate investigation through the Senate Committee on Public Order, citing concerns that the full circumstances surrounding the incident have yet to be relayed to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
