4 Northern Mindanao Industries Honored for Environmental Compliance

Cagayan de oro: Four industries in Northern Mindanao have been recognized by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) 10 for their full compliance with environmental laws.

According to Philippines News Agency, EMB-10 Director Reynaldo Digamo Jr. announced that Crystal Sugar Company Incorporated in Bukidnon and Axelum Resources Corporation in Medina, Misamis Oriental, were among the companies honored for their exceptional adherence to environmental regulations.

The other two companies acknowledged were FDC Misamis Power Corporation in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, and Pilmico in Iligan City. "These companies have never received a notice of violation from the bureau," Digamo stated, highlighting their commitment to environmental stewardship.

In conjunction with the awards ceremony, the Mindanao Conference for Pollution Control Officers was also held in Cagayan de Oro, concluding on the same day as the awards. The conference attracted 180 participants from both private and government sectors across Mindanao, aiming to foster collaboration in environmental protection.

Organized by the Guardians of the Earth Association Incorporated in collaboration with EMB-10, the conference was themed 'One Environment, One Goal: Strengthening Synergy through Knowledge, Compliance, and Collective Action.' It featured various projects focused on advancing environmental protection.

Among the highlighted initiatives was the 'Plastic Waste to Usable Materials' project by the local government unit of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. This project has successfully established a facility for converting waste plastics into usable products, showcasing innovation in waste management and environmental conservation.
