36 Leyte MSMEs Aim for PHP4.5-Million Sales During Tacloban Fiesta Fair

Tacloban: The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is targeting PHP4.5 million in sales during the five-day trade fair featuring Leyte-based micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at a local mall from June 10 to 14. The event aims to showcase local products ahead of the June 30 fiesta celebration.

According to Philippines News Agency, DTI Leyte provincial director Faustino Gayas has encouraged the 36 exhibitors from Leyte to strive for higher gains at the 'Layag' Leyte Fiesta Bonanza Trade Expo 2026, held at Robinsons Place. Initially, the event targeted 30 exhibitors, but the number has increased to 36, reflecting the success of several interventions by DTI aimed at promoting local products and creating more jobs in the province.

This is the fourth occurrence of the 'Layag' Leyte Fiesta Bonanza trade fair since the marketing brand was launched in June 2023. The sales target for this year is set 7 percent higher than last year's actual sales of PHP4.28 million. The term 'Layag,' which means to sail, symbolizes DTI Leyte's goal of introducing its assisted enterprises to new and larger markets, as explained by Gayas.

Products available at the trade fair include processed foods, delicacies, and handcrafted items such as furniture. The event also aims to connect with at least five institutional and walk-in buyers and to establish a gender-sensitive selling space for both exhibitors and buyers. The MSMEs will have the opportunity to showcase their newly improved products and test their market viability through market-testing booths at the trade fair venue.
