35,200 Families Impacted by Severe Weather; Validation of 3 Deaths Ongoing

Manila: The number of families affected by the combined effects of the southwest monsoon, known locally as habagat, and tropical cyclones Mirasol and Nando has surged to over 35,200 as of Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that the severe weather conditions have impacted 35,264 families, translating to approximately 123,142 individuals. The affected families are spread across several regions, including Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The NDRRMC highlighted that a total of 5,289 families were preemptively evacuated from areas including the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, CAR, Central Luzon, National Capital Region, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas. As of Tuesday morning, 4,360 families are currently receiving aid in 252 evacuation centers, while an additional 1,366 families are being assisted in alternative temporary accommodations.

The agency is also in the process of validating reports concerning three fatalities, with one reported in CAR and two in Central Luzon. There are also unverified reports indicating that nine individuals have sustained injuries and five are reported missing.
